Guest Room Checklist
I developed the Guest Room Checklist after becoming overwhelmed with all the things I thought I needed to build a functional & inviting space for visitors.
Recently my cousin and her husband came to stay. I must confess our guest / spare room was full of unfinished projects and… well, just stuff and lots of it!
My approach was not to be worried about what was in the room (people are forgiving) and more about how our guests would feel in the one place they could call their own for a day or three.
With this focus my goal was to offer a functional, comfortable and practical room for our guests. I wanted to balance the room so it wasn’t sterile nor did I want it to be over fussy with trinkets on every surface.
Little things I did:
- popped a luggage rack in the room so they didn’t need to leave their suitcase on the floor, in hindsight I could have just used a bench but I liked the look of the rack
- put some robes in the bathroom so our guests didn’t have to race back to their room in a towel after showering, and
- left a map of the local area AND a sketch of the house so they could get orientated quickly.
